22 year old Maria Venus Raj born in Doha, Qatar but later she was taken to bato (Philippines). Maria Venus Raj won the Miss Philippines-Universe 2010. Raj finished her bachelor's degree in Communications Arts, major in Journalism, at Bicol University in Albay, with Latin honors (cum laude). She is Currently working as a Information Assistant for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and she is also work as a fashion Model. Maria Venus Raj will be participating in The Miss Universe 2010 which will held at Las Vegas (USA).

What a beautiful lady! I would love to have a chance to do a photo shoot with her.
Apparently, poll and audience favorite Venus Raj thought out her answer in native language (Tagalog), then articulated it in second language (English) to William Baldwin. Psycholinguists will confirm that a non-native speaker, even if intermediate in level, may hardly be able to respond with spontaneous eloquence in second language during a time-sensitive instance of a public stage event. The hard lesson learned is that, even if a Philippine beauty candidate can speak English, she should opt to avail of interpreter service, as how Miss Mexico did. After all, Miss Universe is not a public speaking contest — it’s a beauty contest! Still, making it to Top 5 in hand-me-down gowns was no minor, minor feat. So here’s my sincere “MAJOR, MAJOR CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS RAJ!”
